Serbian opposition politician Đorđe Miketić has received a threatening message accompanied by a private explicit photograph. On 27 November, Miketić posted a message he received via Viber, including a private explicit photograph, on his X account. A day before, President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić dubbed Miketić as a “human disgrace” in a television appearance and said “he (Miketić) knows what I know”. Miketić, member of “Together” party (“Serbia Against Violence” coalition), has announced his plans to file a criminal complaint against unidentified individuals. He intends to call upon President Vučić as a witness in the case, because he suspects Vučić had prior knowledge of the compromising material. “This is a proof that BIA (security intelligence agency) works for Vučić and SNS regime”, Miketić wrote. Serbian President has pledged 320 million Euros to public prior to elections, calculations show. Aleksandar Vučić has pledged to pay more than 320 million Euro in various forms of aid to the public prior to December elections. He pledged payments from the budget to old age pensioners, high-school and university students, people on social security and others. (N1 Belgrade, 27 November 2023)
Council of Europe warns of polarised election campaign. Press release said that Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly (PACE) “pre-election observers, ending a two-day visit to Serbia, have noted a highly polarized campaign ahead of next month’s early parliamentary elections, marked by an unprecedented level of negative campaigning and fearmongering, attacks against the opposition and journalists and serious issues related to the media.” (Danas (Serbian), 27 November 2023)
PM Brnabić said high level of agreement reached with farmers; no more road blockades. “I think we reached a high level of agreement, we managed to agree on many issues, there are still some that we will discuss at the next meeting on Wednesday,” said Ana Brnabić. Asked if they are are satisfied with what has been agreed, farmers’ representative said the level of satisfaction is much higher than before. He added that there would be no more road blockades. Over 150,000 people have signed the ProGlas initiative. Initiative was launched on 7 November by a group of concerned intellectuals and public figures calling people to vote in the 17 December elections. The non-party-oriented figures gathered around the ProGlas initiative include former president of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts Vladimir Kostić, former rector of the University of Belgrade Ivanka Popović, actress Svetlana Bojković, actor Dragan Bjelogrlić, judge Miodrag Majić and others.
